Frequency Asked Questions before coming to a class
1. I am not flexible - can I still do Yoga ?
Yes - no problem but please let me know before class if you have any serious injuries or are on any medication that I need to know about. Practising Yoga will make your more flexible
2. What should I wear to class ?
Something that you find comfortable. Either leggings or jogging bottoms or however you like to layer up. Bring a hoody or a jumper for the relaxation at the end of class. I am a big fan of a blanket for the relaxation at the end.
3. Can I eat before the class ?
Ideally you should leave 2 hours between a main meal and class. Practising on a full stomach will make you feel a bit uncomfortable. A light snack is ok
4. Don’t expect miracles straight away…
As much as possible when you start your practice, try not compare yourself to others. Everybody has a very different history of their body so we all do look very different.
5. I can't relax - how on earth will I clear my mind ?
Yoga will bring a sense of balance into the body and as you begin to extend and lengthen your breath, you will begin to find space in the mind to bring the body back to a state of calm and peacefulness.
6. What if I don’t like it ?
There are many different styles of Yoga and many different types of teachers. If you went to a class and it wasn’t for you then try someone else who may be more your style. When I first started yoga I was so bored. I took a 5 year gap before I tried it again. Finding the right teacher is really important.
